About Ellen

Ellen Leon Rosoff is a mother of 2 adult children; she is a daughter, a sister, a dog lover and friend. A work in progress herself, she has had to find her way through many of life's ups and downs including single parenting and financial rebooting. Ellen is a Board Certified Life Coach and K-12 School Counselor. She has worked with children and their parents for over 20 years. The last 20 years are steeped in experience with adolescents, young adults and the people who care about them. In addition, Ellen works on issues of midlife with mostly women on the brink of... well, something new.

Adding coaching to her repertoire of skill sets in 2015 was a natural extension for her. Ellen sees coaching as a great way to help people make their own decisions, analyze and evaluate choices, and gain the self confidence to direct their own lives in new and exciting ways.

Through her compassion, gift for seeing the strengths in others, and skills in counseling, consulting, and coaching she has been able to cultivate in others, an awareness of their own potential and possibility. Using the gap between what is and what could be, Ellen helps young people and others to find their way across the gap, making strides toward their desired outcomes.

She believes that when we talk about concepts such as mindfulness, grit, perspective, self-regulation, optimism and mindset, we can help unlock the client's self and social awareness that was previously hidden from view. Once we shake loose bits of awareness from its moorings, the client can examine it and evaluate what has come to light for them. It is only with awareness that the client can begin to set goals to create forward movement and progress.

Ellen's work is about human transformation. She will help clients find strategies and clarity around balance and self care, career and academic growth, vision and goal setting, time and stress management, relationships, identifying strengths and reframing areas of internal conflict. She will also assist the client with reclaiming their personal power in relationships and or at work as well as beginning the process of discovering what sustains the client's energy while identifying and managing or letting go of the energy drainers. Ellen earned a certificate from the University of California, Berkeley in The Science of Happiness course.  This course focused on all the concepts that she uses in her work as a life coach and counselor, including Courage, Self-Compassion, Gratitude, Generosity, Laughter, Focused Attention and more.

She has also taken courses more recently from Coaching Schools or individual Instructors approved by the ICF* and the CCE*.  Grief Coaching, The Power of IntuitionHeart-Centered Decision Making and Ethics.

In addition to her Masters Degree in Counseling from the University of Connecticut, Ellen has received her coach training from ILCT. The Institute for Life Coach Training is a coach training program approved by the *ICF (International Coach Federation) and the *CCE (Center for Credentialing and Education).
